Approvals and what they record

When a client presses Approve board, three things are written down: who approved it, when, and a fingerprint of exactly what they were looking at.

Why the fingerprint matters

If the board changes after approval, their approval still points at the version they saw. The board shows an Board updated since flag next to the approval, so nobody has to remember whether the change came before or after the sign-off. That is the feature. It is what settles the "that is not what we signed off" conversation.

Request changes

The other button. It records the same details and the sentence they wrote with it, and it appears in the board's header for your team.

What approval does not do

It does not lock the board, and we do not email you yet. Approval is a record rather than a gate: you can keep working, and the record still says exactly what was approved. If you want the approved version frozen, make a new version and keep working in that one, which leaves the approved board intact.
